Introduction
Fawaz Alhokair has a passion not only for education but also for supporting autistic charities, partly driven by his youngest child being diagnosed with autism five years ago. To say autism is the closest thing to his heart would be an understatement. Having known nothing of this condition when his son was diagnosed, Fawaz Alhokair and his family relocated to the United States to understand the condition and treatment options.
After four years in the United States, Fawaz Alhokair and his family moved back to Saudi Arabia with a single-minded determination to help all autistic children in the Kingdom. Back in 1977, only 1 in 15,000 children were diagnosed as autistic, now, 1 in 36 are correctly diagnosed, in no small part to the awareness and treatments now offered through the philanthropic foundations and organizations he has spearheaded in the Kingdom.
