Background
Fawaz Alhokair is a Saudi businessman and entrepreneur. He established the Kingdom’s largest retail and shopping center business in partnership with his two brothers – Salman and Abdulmajeed over 30 years ago which has since grown into the Fawaz Abdulaziz Alhokair Group, a retail powerhouse with 22 shopping centers across the Kingdom and over 40 franchise brands. Fawaz Alhokair is a leader who understands the power of community. His commitment to creating jobs and fostering entrepreneurship has empowered countless individuals and fueled the Kingdom’s economic growth.
Personal History
Fawaz Alhokair grew up in Saudi Arabia with his bothers and has lived through significant change in the country. Having been educated overseas, he returned to Saudi Arabia in the late 1980’s and bought two menswear stores from his father, with his two brothers which was the beginning of what is now known as Cenomi Retail. In the late 1990’s, a partnership was formed with Inditex which exists to this day and has opened up the popular Inditex brand family, including Zara to the ever-demanding consumers of Saudi Arabia. Not content with these two stores, and with a clear eye on the future growth of the Saudi Market, the first shopping center – Sahara Mall opened in 2005 which was the beginning of what is now Cenomi Centers.
